Nasu Highland Park Amusement and Thrill Rides

Nasu Highland Park is a theme park in Nasu Kogen, Tochigi, built around more than ten roller coasters and thrill rides set across wooded highland terrain near the base of Mount Nasu. The park operates as a standard amusement-park attraction rather than an outdoor sport, so no special skill or fitness is required beyond standing height and age minimums posted at each individual ride; most coasters and drop towers have minimum height requirements, and some require an accompanying adult for younger riders. Safety equipment is built into each ride -- lap bars, shoulder harnesses, or seatbelts depending on the attraction -- and operated by trained park staff who run a safety check before every departure; riders with heart conditions, pregnancy, or recent injuries are generally advised against the more intense coasters, per signage posted at ride entrances. The park's operating season runs April through November, with some outdoor rides closed or reduced during poor weather such as heavy rain, lightning, or high wind, since exposed coaster tracks are not safe to run in storms; winter brings reduced operating hours and fewer rides in service. Spring and autumn offer the most comfortable weather for a full day outdoors, while midsummer can be hot with limited shade between rides. Beyond the coasters, the park includes gentler family rides and games, making it workable for mixed groups where not everyone wants the most intense attractions.
