Mino Park & Waterfall

Mino Park sits in Mino City at the northern edge of Osaka Prefecture, roughly 30 minutes by train from central Osaka, and centers on a forested valley trail leading to the 33-meter Mino Waterfall. The 2.8-kilometer paved walking path follows the Mino River upstream through dense subtropical and deciduous forest, passing small shrines, a visitor center, and stalls selling the local specialty of deep-fried maple leaves before reaching the falls at the trail's end. Wild Japanese macaques are occasionally seen along the route, though they are protected and visitors are asked not to feed them. The park is one of the closest genuine forest escapes to central Osaka and forms part of the Meiji no Mori Minoo Quasi-National Park. A round-trip walk to the falls and back takes about ninety minutes at a leisurely pace, with photography and rest stops extending a full visit to three or four hours. Autumn, particularly early-to-mid November, is by far the most popular season, when the maple canopy along the trail turns deep red and gold and the path can become crowded on weekends; spring offers fresh greenery and thinner crowds.
