Tandem Paragliding over Hakuba

Tandem paragliding over Hakuba launches from the Goryu takeoff point above Hakuba-mura, Nagano, giving passengers aerial views across the Hakuba mountains, forested valleys, and the Azumino plain. No prior paragliding experience is required, as flights are flown tandem with a certified pilot from the Hakuba Paragliding School handling takeoff, steering, and landing throughout. Participants need reasonable mobility for a short running takeoff and landing but no special fitness or age qualifications beyond a 90 kg weight limit. All flying equipment, including the wing, harness, and helmet, is provided by the school; passengers only need comfortable clothing and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. The Hakuba Paragliding School has operated in the valley for years and briefs every passenger before flight on harness fit, body position for takeoff and landing, and basic in-flight safety procedures. Because paragliding depends heavily on wind and visibility, pilots assess conditions before each flight and will delay, reschedule, or shorten flights if conditions are unsafe; this is standard practice rather than a sign of a problem. The flying season runs from May to October, with June through September offering the most consistent thermals and calmer morning air, which tends to produce smoother, longer flights than gustier afternoon conditions.
