Miyazaki City Food & Mythology Walk

The three-hour route begins at the East Exit of Miyazaki Station and threads through the Tachibana-dori entertainment district before continuing to Miyazaki Shrine and Heiwadai Park on the northern edge of the city. Along the way, the walk stops at five points: a chicken nanban tasting near the Ogura Honten area where the dish originated, yakitori skewers from the Tachibana-dori night stalls, a flight of three local shochu varieties, a guided pass through the wooded grounds of Miyazaki Shrine, and a closing stop at Heiwadai Park where the guide explains the mythological origins tied to Emperor Jimmu and the founding of Japan. The tastings lean savoury, with only the shochu flight offering a lighter counterpoint, so travelers looking for a dessert stop should plan one separately. The ¥5,000 price includes all food and drink tastings named above, entry to shrine grounds, and the guide's commentary; it does not include transport to the starting point, additional drinks beyond the shochu flight, or souvenirs.
