Casa di Giulietta, or Juliet's House, is a medieval townhouse at Via Cappello 23 in the historic centre of Verona, in Italy's Veneto region, a few minutes' walk from Piazza delle Erbe. The building is traditionally linked with the Capulet family, the Cappello name giving the street its title, and became a place of pilgrimage because of Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet, even though the story is fiction and the balcony itself was added in the twentieth century.

Casa di Giulietta (Juliet's House)

Medieval house associated with the Capulet family and Shakespeare's Juliet, with a courtyard, bronze statue and balcony. Since 1 April 2026 visits are by timed reservation, with a cheaper courtyard-only ticket and a full ticket that includes the interior.

Visitors enter from Via Cappello through a vaulted passage whose walls are covered with notes, messages and graffiti left by lovers from around the world. This leads to a small courtyard dominated by a bronze statue of Juliet, whose right breast is polished from visitors rubbing it for luck, and to the famous stone balcony overlooking the court. Since 1 April 2026 visits operate by timed reservation: a cheaper courtyard-only ticket lets visitors see the statue and the balcony from below, while the full ticket also includes the house interior, where rooms are furnished with period pieces, frescoes, ceramics and costumes and a reproduction bed from a film production. A visit takes about 30 to 45 minutes. From inside, visitors can step out onto the balcony itself and look down on the crowd. Crowds are the main challenge, as the courtyard becomes packed in the middle of the day from spring to autumn, with long waits for photographs at the statue; the first slot of the morning and the last hour before closing are far calmer. Photo angles worth trying are the passage wall from the entrance, the balcony framed from the courtyard corner, and the view from the balcony down into the court. Because of the timed system, arriving without a reservation may mean waiting for the next available slot. The house pairs naturally with Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and the Torre dei Lamberti, all within a short walk, making it an easy stop on a walking route through the old town.
