Nhow Milano

Nhow Milano occupies a converted industrial building on Via Tortona in the Tortona design district, southwest of the city centre. The neighbourhood is the institutional home of Milan's creative industries — architecture firms, fashion showrooms, photography studios, and contemporary galleries are concentrated along Via Tortona and the streets that branch from it. During Milan Design Week and the Salone del Mobile each April, the area becomes the city's primary venue for off-site installations and brand presentations, and the hotel transforms accordingly into an unofficial headquarters for the global design and architecture community. The Porta Genova metro station (M2) is five minutes on foot; the Naviglio Grande canal begins one block east.

The building was redesigned by Matteo Thun, who layered bold graphic interventions — an oversized guitar motif, floor-to-ceiling colour fields, and bespoke furniture pieces — over the raw spatial volumes of the original factory structure. The effect is assertive rather than restrained: this is a hotel that makes a clear aesthetic statement and commits to it entirely. Classic, Superior, and Junior Suite rooms extend the design language into guest accommodation, with oversized art prints, custom lighting rigs, and bathrooms that treat materiality as a compositional element.

A music studio on the premises supports in-house events and is available for private session bookings. A design library and rotating exhibition spaces host temporary shows timed to Milan's calendar of design and fashion events. The restaurant and bar draw a mixed crowd of creative professionals, neighbourhood regulars, and hotel guests — the bar is a functioning social space, not a hotel-only amenity. A fitness centre is available around the clock. Service is intentionally relaxed in register: staff are knowledgeable about the creative scene and can arrange showroom visits, private design tours, and access to events that operate outside public listings.
