I Love Lecce Tours runs this guided food-and-culture walk through the baroque historic centre of Lecce, the elegant Salentine city often called the 'Florence of the South' for its ornate Lecce-stone architecture. The tour departs from Piazza Sant'Oronzo, the central square beside the Roman amphitheatre, and weaves through pedestrian lanes past the Basilica di Santa Croce and the Piazza del Duomo over roughly three and a half hours. Groups are capped at ten participants, keeping the pace relaxed and conversational while the guide explains the layered Greek, Roman, and Spanish-Baroque history written into the city's facades. The culinary heart of the walk is the pasticciotto leccese — a small oval shortcrust pastry filled with warm vanilla custard — tasted at Pasticceria Alvino, the historic café on Piazza Sant'Oronzo credited with popularising the pastry. Participants also experience the caffè in pizzo, the local ritual of espresso poured over ice and almond-milk syrup that defines the Salento summer. Between three and four further street-food stops introduce friselle, the twice-baked barley rusks softened with water and dressed with tomato and olive oil, and pitta di patate, the herbed potato cake of the southern Salento. Tastings of rustico leccese, a puff-pastry parcel of béchamel, mozzarella, and tomato, round out the savoury selection. All tastings listed are included in the fee, along with the pasticciotto and the iced coffee; additional purchases and full meals are not covered. The walk operates in English between April and October, the months when outdoor café culture is at its liveliest, and follows flat paving stones at an unhurried pace suitable for most walkers. Dietary requirements such as vegetarian preferences can usually be accommodated when flagged at the time of booking, given the largely vegetable- and pastry-based menu. The tour combines roughly two hours of tasting with cultural narration, ending near the Piazza del Duomo with a final sweet and recommendations for independent dinner spots in the old town.
