Savandurga sits in the Savandurga State Forest near Magadi, about 60 km from Bengaluru. Trekking is arranged under the Karnataka Forest Department, which manages access to the hill and has periodically closed or capped the route for safety and conservation; visitors should check the current position and book through the department's official Aranya Vihaara portal where a booking is required.

Savandurga is one of Asia's largest monolith hills, a twin granite mass (Karigudda and Biligudda) rising to about 1,226 m. The trek is a steep rock-slab scramble with fort walls, a small Narasimha temple and long views across the Arkavathy valley.

Trekking is arranged under the Karnataka Forest Department, which manages access to the hill and has periodically closed or capped the route for safety and conservation; visitors should check the current position and book through the department's official Aranya Vihaara portal where a booking is required. The route climbs bare granite slabs with iron railings on the steepest parts and passes the ruins of the fort built under Kempegowda. The climb is exposed with almost no shade and is dangerous when the rock is wet, so it is best done early in the morning. Only the Biligudda (white hill) side is usually climbed; the Karigudda side is a technical face. There is little water on the hill, so supplies must be carried up. Weekends draw crowds, and littering is a management concern.
