A grassland reserve holding one of India's largest blackbuck herds, with wolves and harriers.
Velavadar is a flat, open savannah reserve of about 34 square km near Bhavnagar, famous for blackbuck herds. Visitors drive fixed tracks in registered jeeps at dawn and late afternoon. Indian wolf, jackal, nilgai and, in winter, roosts of harriers gather. The park is about 45 km from Bhavnagar, with an airport and rail links. Waterlogged roads limit access from July to September.
