Calanque de Morgiou is a small, enclosed calanque in the 9th arrondissement of Marseille, about 13 kilometres south-east of the Vieux-Port and within the Calanques National Park. Its centre is a fishing harbour lined with white cabins and a few dozen metres of pebbles beside it, so the swimming experience is rocky and intimate rather than that of a classic sand beach.

The water is very clear, and the narrow cove is walled by limestone cliffs that give the harbour a sheltered, photogenic character. The atmosphere is quiet and traditional, closer to a working fishing hamlet than a resort, and no lifeguard is listed, so swimmers should take care and swim within their abilities. Facilities are minimal, and visitors should bring water, food and sun protection. The ridge trail between Morgiou and Sormiou is considered one of the most scenic walks of the massif, which makes the calanque popular with hikers as well as swimmers. Access is mainly on foot. The usual route is a walk of about 40 minutes from the La Gardiole car park, and the hamlet can be reached by car only outside the daily closure hours of 07:00 to 19:00 from June to September, the same schedule that applies at Sormiou. The path is steep with steps and is not suitable for wheelchairs. On high fire-risk days the massif is closed, so visitors should check the Parc national des Calanques website before setting out. Early morning or late afternoon in summer gives the best light, the coolest walk and the fewest people. Calanque de Morgiou suits swimmers, hikers and photographers who want a small harbour setting in Marseille, Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur, and who do not mind carrying their own supplies and walking in.
