Snack de l'Anse

Snack de l'Anse is a laid-back beachside food counter at Plage de l'Anse in Rémire-Montjoly, the coastal municipality that borders Cayenne to the east in French Guiana. The snack bar sits at the edge of the beach, a stone's throw from the Atlantic shoreline, and operates as the informal catering hub for the families, joggers, and weekenders who use this stretch of coast as their primary leisure escape from the capital. The atmosphere is entirely unpretentious: plastic chairs, simple tables, and the sound of waves and children.

The kitchen is small and focused, producing the kind of Creole comfort food that suits a beach afternoon rather than a formal meal. The rôti de porc créole — slow-roasted pork marinated in a blend of garlic, thyme, and Creole spices — is the most substantial dish, served with rice and fried plantain. The salade de palmiste, made with the tender heart of the palm tree, is a characteristically Guianese salad with a mild, artichoke-like flavour, dressed simply with lime juice and vinaigrette. The ti' punch maison, mixed with rhum agricole from Martinique, fresh lime, and raw cane sugar, is the drink most diners order upon arrival.

Prices are among the lowest of any sit-down eating spot in the Cayenne area, running €8–€15 per person. The snack bar is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, making it a practical midday stop during a beach visit. No reservations are taken. Weekends, particularly Sunday afternoons, see the largest crowds as Cayenne families converge on the beach. Weekday visits are significantly quieter.
