Ateljee Bar

Ateljee Bar is a rooftop bar on the 13th floor of the Solo Sokos Hotel Torni at Yrjönkatu 26 in central Helsinki, Finland. The hotel tower dates from 1931 and was long among the tallest buildings in the city, so the terrace gives one of the better panoramic views over the Uusimaa capital's rooftops, church spires and the harbour. Guests reach the bar by lift to the 12th floor and then a short spiral staircase up to the top level, a small ritual that is part of the venue's appeal. The crowd is a mix of hotel guests, visitors ticking off a Helsinki landmark and locals meeting for an early evening drink, with an age range that skews from late twenties upward. The atmosphere is relaxed and conversational rather than loud, and smart-casual clothing is the norm, although there is no strict dress code. Music is kept at background level, so the bar suits talking and sightseeing more than dancing. The drinks programme covers Finnish and international beers, wine by the glass, classic cocktails and a few house creations, with beer around €8-9 and cocktails around €15-18, typical of Helsinki hotel-bar pricing. Light snacks are generally available, though the focus is the view.
