Unicentro Bogotá

Unicentro Bogotá is Colombia's first modern shopping centre, opened in 1976 on Avenida Carrera 15 #124-30 in the Usaquén area of northern Bogotá, Colombia. It remains one of the busiest malls in the country, with several hundred stores spread across low-rise wings and landscaped gardens. It differs from the Zona Rosa luxury malls in being a practical, everyday centre: mid-market and premium Colombian chains, department stores, pharmacies, eyewear, electronics, sports and children's shops, plus cinemas. It is a sensible choice for visitors wanting Colombian brands at fixed prices, and a branch of Galería Cano sells emerald and pre-Columbian replica jewellery in a reliable retail setting. Goods are authentic and sold by brand or chain stores, so counterfeit risk is low. Prices are fixed and bargaining is not practised, with typical purchases running from about COP 30,000 to COP 1,500,000. Cards are widely accepted, and cash is also welcome. Tourists should ask stores about a value-added tax refund and keep invoices for the airport process, as eligibility varies. The atmosphere is busy and family-oriented, particularly on weekends and in the evenings, and mornings on weekdays are calmer. Eating is easy: a large food court serves Colombian and international fast food, and there are sit-down restaurants and cafes around the gardens. The layout is horizontal, with wings connected by walkways and open areas, so it takes time to cover on foot. The must-visit corners are the department stores, the Colombian clothing chains and the Galería Cano branch. Hours are roughly 10:00 to 20:00 Monday to Saturday and 11:00 to 19:00 on Sunday and public holidays. Access is by car, taxi, ride-hailing or bus routes along Avenida Carrera 15, and parking is available for drivers.
