Plaza de Mercado La Perseverancia is a historic working-class market at Carrera 5 with Calle 30A in the La Perseverancia neighbourhood of Santa Fe, Bogotá, Colombia. It grew up serving the workers' district around it and remains a local market, so the goods on sale are fresh produce, meat, cheese, grains and household basics, not souvenirs. Vendors are neighbourhood traders, the produce is genuine and locally sourced, and the ratio of tourist trinkets is essentially nil. The main reason visitors come is the food court, where small family-run kitchens serve regional Colombian set lunches, known as corrientazos or almuerzos, along with soups, grilled meats, tamales, fresh juices and dishes from different regions of the country. Lunches typically cost COP 15,000 to COP 30,000, which makes the market a low-cost way to sample home-style cooking. Bargaining is not part of the culture for cooked meals, where prices are posted, and only mild negotiation applies at produce stalls when buying in bulk. Payment is mostly in cash pesos, and some food counters may accept transfers or cards, but visitors should carry cash. Tax refunds do not apply. The atmosphere is lively at lunchtime, when office workers and local families fill the tables, and calmer in the early morning and mid-afternoon. The layout is a covered hall with produce stalls along the aisles and the food counters grouped around shared seating; the must-visit corners are the food court and the fruit and vegetable stalls. Opening hours run roughly 06:00 to 16:00 Monday to Saturday and 06:00 to 15:00 on Sunday, so it is best visited by day. The neighbourhood is working-class, and visitors are advised to travel by taxi or ride-hailing, keep belongings secure and avoid walking the surrounding streets after dark.
