Mercado de Pulgas San Alejo is Bogotá's long-running Sunday antiques and curiosities market, held in a covered lot at Carrera 7 #24-70 in the Santa Fe area, Colombia. It sits beside the Carrera 7 corridor used for the weekly Ciclovía, which makes it easy to combine with a cycling or walking morning. Unlike a souvenir market, San Alejo is a dealers' market: stalls lay out vinyl records, old photographs, typewriters, vintage cameras, coins and banknotes, books, religious carvings, military memorabilia and Colombian ephemera. Most items are genuinely secondhand, and the ratio of tourist trinkets is low, though condition and authenticity vary widely, so buyers should inspect items carefully. Reproductions of coins, medals and pre-Columbian pieces can appear, and export rules restrict genuine archaeological objects, so buyers should not assume that any purchase can be taken out of the country. Prices are openly negotiable and haggling is a normal part of every transaction, with prices commonly running from about COP 5,000 for a paperback or small print up to COP 500,000 for scarce collectibles. Payment is mostly in cash pesos, and card acceptance is rare. Tax refunds for tourists do not apply to secondhand market purchases. The atmosphere is relaxed and browsing-oriented, busiest in the late morning and early afternoon, with collectors and casual visitors moving slowly through the aisles. Food is limited on site, but the stretch of Carrera 7 and the nearby city-centre streets offer plenty of cafes and street vendors. The lot is arranged in rows of dealers' tables; the must-visit corners are the vinyl and record tables, the old-photograph boxes and the coin and militaria dealers. It operates only on Sundays, from about 09:00 to 17:00, so visitors should plan around that single day.
