Theatron

Theatron occupies the former Teatro Cinema Mogador at Calle 58 Bis #10-32 in Chapinero, Bogotá, Colombia, converted into a 13-room complex that is widely described as the largest LGBTQ+ club in Latin America. The building dates from the 1940s, and its old cinema structure now houses separate rooms and floors, each with its own music policy and crowd, so a single night can move from a reggaetón floor to a salsa room, an electronic space and a drag cabaret. The crowd is diverse and welcoming: LGBTQ+ locals, straight friends, tourists and large groups, with capacity in the thousands and an age range that runs from early twenties to forties. Dress is casual to party wear, costumes and glitter are common, and the mood is loud, theatrical and playful. The music covers reggaetón, crossover, electronic, pop and salsa. The drinks programme centres on premium spirits and mixed drinks priced at roughly COP 20,000 to COP 45,000, and on most nights the cover includes house drinks until 02:00, which makes the entry price much better value than it appears. Opening hours are Thursday to Saturday from 21:00 to 05:00. Cover varies by night: Thursday is free from 21:00 to 22:00 and then about COP 15,000, Friday costs about COP 20,000 to COP 30,000, and Saturday costs about COP 30,000 before 22:00, rising to COP 50,000 later. Original photo identification is required at the door, and copies or phone images are refused, so visitors should carry a passport or the original national identity document. Reservations are not usually needed for general entry, but larger groups may arrange tables. Lines build after about 23:00 on Friday and Saturday, and arriving early both saves money and avoids the queue. The size of the complex means there is rarely a shortage of space, though the busiest rooms are crowded at peak hours.
