Tianjin Binhai Library, designed by MVRDV and completed in 2017, sits on Yindu Road in Binhai New Area and is known for its undulating white terraced 'wave' shelving that wraps a central spherical auditorium. The frame here is the atrium itself: a symmetrical shot from the ground floor centered on the sphere captures the full curvature of the surrounding shelves rising to the ceiling, while an ultra-wide-angle lens is close to essential to fit the atrium's full height and width without a heavily distorted stitch of multiple frames. Because the subject is indoors, lighting is usable year-round regardless of season; the atrium's glass facade admits soft, diffused daylight that works well on overcast days, while direct sun on clear days can create hot reflections off the sphere's surface that are harder to control. The library is popular with tourists and has become one of Tianjin's most photographed interiors, so it fills quickly after opening; visiting in the first thirty to forty-five minutes on a weekday morning offers the clearest atrium with the fewest people crossing the frame. Entry is free, though photography for commercial purposes may require separate permission from library staff.
