Beidaihe Seaside (Qinhuangdao, Hebei)

Beidaihe is a seaside district of Qinhuangdao in neighboring Hebei Province, about 145 km (90 miles) east of Tianjin, reached in about 1 hour 23 minutes each way on China Railways G-class high-speed trains running from Tianjin's South or North stations, with roughly 28 departures daily between 05:19 and 20:13. That frequency makes it feasible as a long day trip despite being outside Tianjin Municipality. Beidaihe has been a seaside resort since the late 19th century, known for its sandy beaches, seafront promenade, and the Dove Nest Park headland where visitors traditionally gather to watch the sunrise over the Bohai Sea. A day trip works best with an early train, arriving in time to walk the West Beach or Middle Beach promenade in the morning before the midday sun, followed by lunch at one of the seafood restaurants clustered near the beachfront, then an afternoon at Dove Nest Park or Lianfeng Mountain Park for coastal views before catching a return train in the evening. Fresh seafood is the area's culinary draw, with restaurants along the beach roads serving grilled and steamed shellfish, prawns, and local fish caught that day. Beidaihe's beach season runs June through August, when the water and weather suit swimming; outside those months the town is quieter and the beaches less useful for their main purpose, though the promenade and parks remain walkable year-round.
