Wuzhong is a prefecture-level city on the west bank of the Yellow River in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, northwest China, about 60 km south of the regional capital Yinchuan. It is one of China's main centres of Hui Muslim culture, known for its mosques, its Yellow River irrigation heritage and a citywide morning tea (zaocha) dining tradition built around hand-pulled noodles, eight-treasure tea and hand-grabbed lamb. Its administrative area includes Litong District (the urban core), Hongsibu District, Tongxin County, Yanchi County and Qingtongxia, a county-level city that holds the Yellow River Grand Canyon, the 108 Dagobas and the Yellow River Tower.

Bargaining tips
Negotiate like a local.
Mall and supermarket prices are fixed; light bargaining is only realistic at small independent shops and food-street stalls
Goji berry pricing varies a great deal by grade; ask to see and compare a few grades before buying, and expect the best berries to cost noticeably more
Pay with Alipay or WeChat Pay linked to a foreign card where possible; carry small cash denominations as backup, especially in Tongxin and Qingtongxia
There is very little English signage away from Wanda Plaza, so a translation app or a written note in Chinese characters helps with prices and questions
Customs & restrictions
What you can and can't take home.
Most food and grocery shopping in central Wuzhong is halal by default given the large Hui population share; this affects what is sold rather than how shops operate, Receipts are not always automatically offered at small stalls; ask for one (fapiao or shouju) if needed for any reason, Shops generally open mid-morning and many small stalls close for the Friday midday prayer period in Hui-majority neighbourhoods
