High-Altitude Bungee Jump over the Shapotou Gorge

The bungee jump at Shapotou sends jumpers off a fixed platform above the Yellow River gorge on a bungee cord, giving a brief but intense drop over the water and desert scenery below. The activity demands no athletic skill, but operators enforce minimum age and maximum weight limits, and it is not suitable for anyone with heart conditions, back or joint problems, or who is pregnant; jumpers should be in generally good health and able to follow the harness attendant's instructions calmly. The bungee harness and cord are provided and fitted by staff at the platform; jumpers need only wear closed athletic shoes and clothing that will not restrict the harness, since loose or bulky garments can interfere with a clean jump. The platform is run by Shapotou Scenic Area's own Yellow River activity zone, and attendants check equipment and body weight before every jump as part of a standard pre-jump routine; a safety briefing at the platform covers arm position, how to enter the jump, and what to expect during the rebound, and staff remain on the platform and at ground level throughout to manage the lowering and release process after each jump. The jump operates seasonally from April to October, alongside the rest of the river activity zone, and is suspended in high winds, rain, or thunderstorms regardless of season, with staff making the call on site rather than by advance booking.
