Huai'an travel guide - where to stay, what to do, and where to eat in Huai'an, Jiangsu, China.

Accommodation overview

Huai'an has two main hotel clusters about 15 km apart. The modern city centre in Qingjiangpu and Huaiyin districts around Huaihai Road, Suning Plaza and the Mixc mall holds most business chains and the Pullman, Fairfield by Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn and Atour properties, with newer towers in the University Town and Economic Development Zone to the south. The old walled town of Chuzhou, now Huai'an District, is the base for Hexia Ancient Town, the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall and the Wanda Plaza, with the Jinling, New Century Maison and Mercure hotels plus courtyard-style boutique stays on Cha Lane. Hongze Lake, about 50 km west of the centre, has a smaller set of lakeside hotels. Many hotels opened between 2019 and 2026, so recent guest scores are the best guide.

Booking tips

Get the best deals and avoid common mistakes.

Tip

Confirm the hotel accepts foreign passports before booking; large chains such as Pullman, Hilton, Marriott, Atour and JI Hotel routinely register foreign guests, but some small independents cannot.

Tip

Choose the cluster first: stay in Qingjiangpu for trains from Huai'an Railway Station and the modern city, or in Huai'an District to walk to Hexia Ancient Town and the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall.

Tip

Huai'an East Railway Station (Huai'an Dong) is outside the built-up centre; allow a taxi or DiDi transfer of 30 minutes or more to either hotel cluster.

Tip

Book Golden Week (1-7 October), Spring Festival and summer weekends several weeks ahead, and compare Trip.com, Ctrip and the brand's own app.

Tip

Save the hotel name and address in Chinese (shown on each listing) to show taxi and DiDi drivers.

Tip

Hongze Lake hotels suit visits to the lake and the Fantawild theme park; they are a 45-60 minute drive from the city centre, so avoid them as a base for city sights.
