The Zhili Governor-General's Yamen stands at No. 301 Yuhua Road in Lianchi District, Baoding, Hebei Province, China, and is the best preserved provincial government compound of the Qing dynasty in the country. Baoding served as the seat of the governor-general of Zhili, the province surrounding Beijing, for more than 180 years, and holders of the post, including Li Hongzhang and Yuan Shikai, were among the most powerful officials of the empire. The complex covers about 30,000 square metres and presents the administrative world of late imperial China.

The layout follows a strict axial plan. Visitors enter through a main gate and ceremonial courtyard, pass the drum tower and the Great Hall, where the governor-general presided over official business, and continue to the second and third halls, the inner residence and the garden at the rear. Rooms have been restored with period furniture, wax figures and displays showing court sessions, correspondence and daily routines. Side buildings include offices for secretaries, a jail exhibit, a kitchen area and rooms for the governor-general's family, with exhibits that explain the structure of Qing provincial government and notable events that took place here, such as the negotiation of reforms.

A visit takes one and a half to two hours at an unhurried pace. Weekday mornings are the quietest, with school groups and tour parties more common in the late morning and at weekends. The courtyards are shaded by old trees, which makes the site comfortable even in summer. Interpretation is largely in Chinese, so a guide or translation app is helpful for non-Chinese readers. The yamen is in central Baoding and can be combined with other city sights, including the Lotus Pond Garden, within a day.
