Silver Cave (Yinzi Yan)

Silver Cave (Yinzi Yan) is a limestone karst cave system in Lipu County, roughly 90 minutes south of Yangshuo, developed for visitors along a lit walkway that threads through several large chambers over about 1.2 kilometers. The cave takes its name from the unusually pale, almost white calcite formations lining its halls, which catch light and appear to shimmer like silver rather than the yellow-brown tones typical of nearby caves such as Reed Flute Cave. Visitors pass through a sequence of chambers featuring dense stalactite and stalagmite clusters, flowstone curtains resembling frozen waterfalls, and a reflective underground pool near the cave's lower level that mirrors the formations above it. The walkway includes some inclines and steps between chambers, and the full circuit typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours at a leisurely pace, including photo stops. Afternoon visits tend to avoid the tour-group rush that arrives earlier in the day from Guilin and Yangshuo, and because the cave receives fewer visitors than Reed Flute Cave, even midday visits are rarely crowded. Colored lighting is used throughout to highlight the whiteness of the formations, particularly in the silver-curtain chamber partway through the route, which is the most photographed section. Temperatures inside stay cool and humid year-round regardless of the season outside, and walkway surfaces can be slick, so visitors should wear closed, non-slip shoes.
