Seven Star Park (Qixing Gongyuan)

Seven Star Park occupies a large stretch of eastern Guilin along the Li River, named for a cluster of seven karst peaks arranged in a pattern locals compare to the stars of the Big Dipper. The park blends landscaped gardens with natural karst features, including Camel Hill, a low rock formation whose outline resembles a kneeling camel and is one of the park's most photographed spots, best seen from the bridge on the park's eastern side. Seven Star Cave, requiring a separate small ticket beyond the general park entrance, runs through one of the seven peaks and includes illuminated chambers of stalactites and historical inscriptions left by visitors dating back centuries. A modest zoo within the park grounds adds a family-oriented stop, and open lawns and pavilions host local residents practicing tai chi, playing traditional instruments, and singing in groups, especially at dawn. A relaxed two to three hour visit covers the main garden areas, Camel Hill, and the cave, making it one of the more complete half-day outings within central Guilin.
