Yangmeikeng Coastal Trail, Dapeng Peninsula

The Yangmeikeng Coastal Trail on the Dapeng Peninsula runs roughly 5km one-way from the Yangmeikeng village trailhead to Luzui Beach and the Mermaid Cave. It is reached by bus route B754 or by taxi from Dapeng town centre; there is no permit requirement, though a small entry fee applies at some beach access points along the way. The path follows a rolling coastal route with modest climbs staying under 100m, alternating between packed dirt, rocky headland sections, and short boardwalk stretches near the beaches. Shade is limited along most of the route, since the trail hugs open coastal bluffs with sea breezes but little forest cover, so sun exposure is significant for the full 2-2.5 hour one-way walk. Key landmarks include several small coves used for informal swimming stops, the rocky headland viewpoint overlooking the South China Sea partway along, and the Mermaid Cave, a sea cave accessible at lower tide near Luzui Beach, which also serves as the main turn-around or pickup point. There are no refuge huts along the trail, but seasonal snack vendors operate near Luzui Beach on weekends, and the only formal water source is at the Yangmeikeng trailhead. Round-trip hikers typically retrace the same path, doubling the total distance and time.
