The Dongmen Old Street Self-Guided Snack Crawl is a self-organized walking route through the Dongmen Commercial Pedestrian Street in Luohu District, one of Shenzhen's oldest shopping and eating districts, starting from Exit A of Laojie Station. Rather than following a paid operator, visitors design their own path across roughly six city blocks of pedestrian lanes lined with snack stalls, dessert shops, and skewer vendors, sampling items such as stinky tofu, grilled meat and seafood skewers, egg waffles, and shaved-ice desserts along the way. The crawl has no fixed number of stops; most visitors sample four to eight different stalls over two to three hours, balancing savory skewers and fried snacks against sweeter stops like dessert shops and fruit-tea stands. Because it is self-guided, there is no included guide, transport, or pre-arranged tastings; each stall is paid for individually in cash or via mobile payment, with typical spending of ¥40-80 (about $6-11) for a full evening of snacking. Visitors who want a sit-down meal can head upstairs into one of the multi-story food courts above the pedestrian street for a fuller Cantonese or Chaoshan meal after the walk. The street is busiest and most atmospheric in the evening, when stalls light up and foot traffic peaks, though it is open and walkable throughout the day. There is no set group size or language requirement since the crawl is undertaken independently, and dietary needs are handled stall by stall rather than through any centralized menu.
