The current Weston flagship spans several connected buildings on the main street, packed floor-to-ceiling with an extraordinary range of functional, nostalgic, and distinctly Vermont merchandise — from cast-iron skillets and flannel nightgowns to hard-to-find candy brands, Vermont maple products, and medicinal preparations that have largely vanished from pharmacy shelves. The store is known for stocking items that other retailers have discontinued: old-fashioned talcum powders, wooden-handled tools, natural fiber clothing, and confections like candy buttons and licorice pipes that evoke mid-20th-century American general merchandise. Vermont food products form a central section, with maple syrups, aged cheddars, pickled vegetables, and homemade fudge made on-site in a visible candy kitchen. The attached café serves Vermont breakfasts and lunches. Weston village itself is among Vermont's most intact small communities, with a village green, the Weston Playhouse community theater, and the nearby Farrar-Mansur House Museum providing context for a longer visit. The Vermont Country Store also operates a second location in Rockingham on Vermont Route 103.
