Breakside Brewery (NE Dekum)

Breakside Brewery's original taproom on NE Dekum St is the founding location of one of the Pacific Northwest's most decorated craft brewing operations, situated in Northeast Portland, Oregon's Woodlawn neighborhood. Opened in 2010, Breakside has accumulated a substantial national reputation for innovation across a wide range of beer styles — from West Coast IPAs to experimental sour ales and carefully crafted barrel-aged stouts. The Dekum taproom is smaller and more community-oriented than Breakside's larger Milwaukie production facility, offering a warm neighborhood atmosphere that reflects the character of its surrounding residential area.

The beer program is the primary draw. A rotating selection of up to twenty draft handles typically includes flagship beers alongside experimental small-batch releases, seasonal offerings, and barrel-aged projects that rarely make it beyond the taproom walls. The Breakside IPA and Wanderlust IPA are perennial crowd favorites; the sour and barrel-aged programs attract enthusiasts who track new releases closely. The atmosphere is casual and family-friendly during daylight hours, shifting toward a more social evening vibe after 6 PM. No cover charge applies. A dog-friendly patio is available during fair weather, a popular amenity given Portland's outdoor culture. Hours run Monday through Thursday 3 PM–10 PM, Friday 3 PM–11 PM, and Saturday–Sunday from noon.
