Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans

Astor Crowne Plaza New Orleans is an IHG-brand hotel at 739 Canal Street, on the boundary between the French Quarter and the Central Business District of New Orleans, Louisiana. Canal Street is the city's main thoroughfare, and the Canal Street streetcar line runs past the front of the property, linking it to City Park and the Mid-City neighborhood. Bourbon Street is a block or two away, and Jackson Square, Royal Street and the Mississippi riverfront can be reached on foot in about fifteen minutes. The building occupies a historic Canal Street site, and the interior follows a conventional full-service hotel layout rather than a Creole courtyard design. Room types include King rooms, Double Queen rooms and suites, and rates are generally between about US$140 and US$320 per night, placing it in the mid-range category. Amenities include a pool, a fitness center and an on-site restaurant, offering the standard services expected from a large chain property: air-conditioned rooms, business facilities and a staffed front desk. Dining on site covers breakfast and dinner, while the nearby Quarter and the Central Business District provide a wide choice of Creole, Cajun and seafood restaurants within a short walk. The service character is that of a mid-size chain hotel, geared to leisure visitors who want to be near the Quarter without paying a Royal Street price, and also to business travelers visiting downtown offices or the convention center. The location is convenient for transport, with the streetcar, buses and taxi ranks close at hand, and the airport shuttle or ride-share trip typically takes around thirty minutes depending on traffic. Canal Street is busy and noisy, especially on weekends and parade days, so visitors who are sensitive to noise may request a higher floor or a room facing away from the avenue.
