Mount Magazine State Park Lodge

Mount Magazine State Park Lodge sits at an elevation of approximately 2,400 feet on the summit plateau of Mount Magazine, Arkansas's highest peak at 2,753 feet, accessed via AR-309 from Paris, Arkansas. The lodge is the only high-altitude accommodation in the state, and its position on the summit delivers unobstructed views across the Arkansas River Valley to the south and the Petit Jean River Valley to the north — a panorama available nowhere else in Arkansas.

Developed as part of Arkansas's state park lodge program and opened in the mid-2000s, the architecture references Craftsman and parkitecture traditions: stone and timber construction with broad overhangs, large windows oriented to the view, and materials that read as appropriate to the mountain context. Standard Rooms and Suites occupy the main lodge building; Vacation Cabins dispersed across the summit plateau offer more privacy and kitchen facilities. All main lodge rooms have private balconies or porches with direct valley views.

The lodge restaurant operates breakfast through dinner with a menu oriented toward comfort food and regional staples — the mountain views from the dining room are the equal of any restaurant setting in the state. A heated pool operates year-round. A fitness center covers standard equipment. A stargazing deck is maintained on the summit plateau, where light pollution is minimal and the Milky Way is visible on clear nights.

Mount Magazine's trail system includes the Signal Hill Trail to the true summit, the Cameron Bluff Trail along the south escarpment, and technical mountain bike routes. Rock climbing routes are established on the south face. The surrounding Ouachita National Forest provides additional trail access. The park is approximately 100 miles northwest of Little Rock and 60 miles east of Fort Smith.
