Antik Tiyatro Bistro takes its name and its primary characteristic from its proximity to the ancient Greek and Roman theater that survives above the town of Bodrum, Muğla province — a second-century BCE structure carved into the hillside that served as the entertainment centre of ancient Halicarnassus. The bistro's terrace seating looks directly onto the archaeological site, providing one of the most unusual dining backdrops in the Muğla region: contemporary café furniture set against an ancient curved stone auditorium that fills the view behind and above the meal. The menu is a broad mixture of Turkish and Mediterranean dishes; the kitchen is not attempting to compete with specialist fish or grill restaurants but rather to offer versatile, well-executed food in an exceptional setting. Muğla honey and cheese board — assembled with local varieties including tulum (cave-aged) cheese and thyme honey from the highland producers of the province — is the most distinctive starter and directly references the region's food culture. Octopus stew, slow-cooked until tender in a tomato and herb base, is the most popular main dish. Baklava served with clotted cream (kaymak) closes the meal with one of Turkey's most iconic sweet preparations: the flaky pastry soaked in honey-based syrup and offset by the cool richness of kaymak.
