Samandağ Family Pension (Aile Pansiyonu)

Samandağ Family Pension — or Aile Pansiyonu in Turkish — is a budget accommodation in Samandağ (also historically known as Süveydiye), a coastal town at the mouth of the Orontes River approximately 25 kilometres southwest of Antakya city centre. The pension stands 200 metres from the beach, which stretches several kilometres along this rarely visited stretch of the Turkish Mediterranean. The area is quiet by regional standards and offers a genuine alternative to the more developed resorts further north on the Turkish Riviera.

The surrounding town of Samandağ is home to a substantial community of Alevi Arabs, giving the area a cultural texture distinct from the rest of Hatay province. The town's seafront is low-key: a few fish restaurants, a small market, and a modest promenade. The main archaeological draw in the wider area is ancient Seleucia Pieria, a Hellenistic-era harbour city at the modern village of Çevlik approximately 8 kilometres north, where a remarkable rock-cut tunnel — the Titus and Vespasian Tunnel — was carved by Roman legionaries in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD.

The pension is a family-run Turkish aile pansiyonu in the traditional mould: a two- or three-storey building with a shared terrace, simple garden, and domestic character. Room categories are Double and Family (sleeping four), both air-conditioned with basic but functional furnishings. Breakfast is included and features the local standard: bread, olives, white cheese, tomatoes, cucumber, eggs, and tea. No lunch or dinner service is provided on site, but Samandağ town centre has several lokanta (traditional lunch diners) and fish restaurants within easy walking distance.

No pool or spa is available. The beach is the primary outdoor amenity and is reachable on foot in under five minutes. The pension is best suited to budget-conscious families, archaeology enthusiasts using Samandağ as a base, and travellers seeking a quiet coastal stop outside the main tourist circuit.
