Antakya Residence is a modular prefabricated hotel established in a newly developed zone south of Antakya's historic centre, approximately 2 kilometres from the old bazaar district. The property emerged as part of the emergency accommodation infrastructure constructed in the months following the February 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquake, which destroyed or severely damaged a significant portion of Antakya's existing hotel stock. The surrounding area is an active reconstruction zone — characterized by cleared lots, new-build residential blocks, and the operational tempo of a city in intensive recovery.
The physical structure consists of prefabricated modular units — either repurposed shipping containers or prefab-panel construction — arranged in an ordered compound layout with external access to each unit. This building method is architecturally utilitarian rather than aesthetic, but it delivers a functional, self-contained accommodation standard that exceeds a conventional dormitory or emergency shelter in both privacy and comfort.
Module types include Single, Double, and Family configurations. Each unit is fully self-contained with modern en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, and sufficient floor space — often more generous than a traditional hotel room. Flat-screen televisions, adequate WiFi, and modern fixtures are standard across all module types. The internal fittings are plain but well-maintained and recently installed.
An on-site restaurant operates a buffet-style service catering to the mixed clientele of contractors, NGO workers, construction firms, and individual travellers passing through the city. The kitchen is practical rather than culinary in focus, offering Turkish staples at reliable hours. A car park is the main outdoor amenity. No pool, spa, or leisure facilities are available.
