A 24 km² reservoir on the Tigris with rocky coves, best at sunset; about 50 km from Diyarbakır.
Dicle Dam Lake, in Eğil district about 50 km north of Diyarbakır, is a 24 km² reservoir on the Tigris behind a 75 m earth-fill dam. Steep rocky shores, quiet coves and, near Eğil town, the castle rock make it the most scenic water view in the province, and the surface turns copper at sunset.
Photographers can shoot from the shore near Eğil or from boat trips on the lake, where boats run toward the Kralkızı Dam and the Dicle-Hani road bridge. Boat prices were not verified. Water level changes and the lake is not a swimming spot, with drownings reported, so shore positions should be chosen with care. A car or taxi is required from Diyarbakır.
