Turkish black tea, brewed double-stacked in çaydanlık kettles and served in tulip glasses on small saucers, is the primary item and the reason most guests are present. Simit — the sesame-encrusted bread ring sold throughout Turkey — and simple pastry provide the food component of the menu, keeping the focus firmly on the beverage and the social experience rather than on a culinary agenda.
