Known as Turkey's thermal-spa capital, it is famous for the mineral-rich hot springs of Gazlıgöl, Ömer-Gecek, and Sandıklı, a dramatic castle rising on a volcanic rock above the city, and a celebrated food culture of kaymak clotted cream, Turkish delight, and Afyon sucuk sausage.
