Adıyaman is a province in Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, set in the upper Euphrates basin between the Taurus foothills and the Mesopotamian plains. It is best known as the gateway to Mount Nemrut (Nemrut Dağı), the UNESCO-listed mountaintop sanctuary where colossal stone heads guard the 1st-century-BC tomb of King Antiochus I of Commagene. The province also holds Roman bridges, royal tumuli, and rock-cut ancient cities, alongside a distinctive cuisine that includes the local çiğ köfte and Adıyaman tava.
Adıyaman has a hot-summer climate transitional between Mediterranean and continental, with very hot, dry summers and cold, wetter winters. Lowland summer temperatures in July and August routinely reach 35-42°C, while winters are cold with rain in the city and heavy snow in the mountains. Mount Nemrut, at about 2,134 m, is markedly cooler than the city year-round and is snow-covered from roughly mid-October to the end of April, when the summit road is usually closed. The best conditions for visiting the province and reaching the Commagene sites fall in spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October).

Peak season and very hot in the lowlands, with Adıyaman city often hitting 38-42°C, while the Nemrut summit stays pleasantly cool by day and cold at night. The festival season and clear skies draw the most visitors, especially for sunrise tours.
Fall
Months: Sep-Nov
September and October are ideal, with warm days, cool nights and accessible Nemrut roads. By November temperatures drop sharply, rain increases and the first snows begin to threaten the summit approach.
Winter
