Adıyaman is a province in Southeastern Anatolia, Turkey, set in the upper Euphrates basin between the Taurus foothills and the Mesopotamian plains. It is best known as the gateway to Mount Nemrut (Nemrut Dağı), the UNESCO-listed mountaintop sanctuary where colossal stone heads guard the 1st-century-BC tomb of King Antiochus I of Commagene. Gölbaşı Lake Recreation Shore
Lake Gölbaşı gives the district its name and sits right at the edge of Gölbaşı town, ringed by lakeside promenades, tea gardens and fish restaurants. The gently shelving shore is used for swimming and paddling in summer, with picnic grounds and shaded benches along the water. It is the most accessible of the district's lakes, reached directly by dolmuş from Adıyaman.

Azaplı Lake Shore
Azaplı Lake lies immediately beside Gölbaşı town, and the settlement's name means 'by the lake'. The Gazihan Dede Water Sports Centre and Recreation Area on the Atatürk Dam reservoir is one of the largest recreation grounds in Southeastern Anatolia, featuring a floating swimming pool moored on the lake - a rare design that lets visitors swim safely over deep reservoir water. Alongside the pool there are picnic areas and space for water sports. It offers a beach-like day on the Euphrates for Adıyaman residents and visitors.

Baraj Park Samsat Lakeside

Çamgazi Dam Lakeside

Swim where lifeguards are posted and follow flag warnings — green is safe, yellow is caution, red means no swimming. Rip currents are the leading beach hazard worldwide.

Watch for tide changes and marine life — jellyfish blooms, sea urchins on rocky entries, occasional shark or stingray advisories. Don’t swim alone, especially at dawn or dusk.
Tip
Reapply sunscreen every 90 minutes and after every swim. Take shade between 11 am and 3 pm — the sun is harsher than people expect, even when the air is cool.
