The Yard Hostel Phuket Town

The Yard Hostel Phuket Town is located on Phang Nga Road in the core of Phuket's Sino-Portuguese heritage district, within the walkable Old Town grid. The property is a converted Peranakan shophouse — the long, narrow commercial building type that lines the heritage streets — and the conversion retains the building's tiled façade and internal courtyard while introducing contemporary dormitory and private room furniture.

The accommodation mix includes co-ed dormitories of four and six beds, a female-only dorm, and private rooms ranging from compact doubles to slightly larger twin configurations. Dorm bunks come with individual curtains for privacy, personal reading lights, USB and standard power outlets, and under-bunk lockable storage. Shared bathrooms on each floor are cleaned multiple times daily. Air conditioning operates in all sleeping areas. No restaurant operates on-site, but a courtyard area serves coffee, tea, and light snacks from the morning through to early afternoon.

The location is the hostel's principal asset. The Saturday Night Market and Sunday Walking Street markets draw street-food vendors to within a two-minute walk. Phuket Museum, the Chinese Shrines along Thalang Road, and several of the island's most-photographed Sino-Portuguese building facades are reachable on foot in under ten minutes. The Old Town's independent café scene — one of the most developed in Phuket — occupies the surrounding sois.

The Yard occupies a distinct niche from Patong-area hostels: it draws culturally curious and slow travellers rather than beach-party crowds, and the relaxed communal atmosphere reflects that demographic.
