Green Cottage Moshi

Green Cottage Moshi is a small guesthouse set along the Old Moshi Road on the residential outskirts of Moshi, approximately 3–5 kilometres from the town centre. The property consists of a cluster of simple cottages arranged within a planted garden, offering a quieter and more domestically scaled alternative to the town-centre hotels. The garden setting and lower ambient noise level attract volunteers working in the region, long-stay travellers, and budget trekkers who prefer a less urban atmosphere. Kilimanjaro's lower slopes are visible from the garden on clear days, and the residential neighbourhood provides a degree of insight into everyday Moshi life that central hotels cannot replicate.

Each cottage is a freestanding or semi-detached unit with a small private veranda, a bedroom with mosquito nets, and basic bathroom facilities. Rooms are simply furnished with a bed, wardrobe, and desk, with ceiling fans for ventilation. A shared kitchen is available for guests who want to self-cater, equipped with basic cookware and a refrigerator. Wireless internet covers the main guesthouse building and most of the garden. Communal outdoor areas — a terrace and a shaded seating spot — serve as a gathering point for resident travellers in the evenings.

The owner is deeply embedded in the local community and functions as the property's primary information resource, offering reliable guidance on cultural day tours, village visits, coffee farm experiences on Kilimanjaro's slopes, and budget climbing arrangements. Laundry service is available on-site. The guesthouse does not operate a restaurant, but the shared kitchen and local food stalls along the Old Moshi Road provide practical alternatives. A taxi or bajaji (auto-rickshaw) to the town centre takes approximately 10–15 minutes.
