Hotel Schweizerhof Zürich is located at Bahnhofplatz 7, directly across from Zürich Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station of Switzerland's largest city. That position makes it one of the most convenient addresses in the country for rail travellers: trains to Zürich Airport, Bern, Lucerne, Basel and the Alpine resorts depart a few steps from the entrance, and the city's tram network starts at the station forecourt. The Old Town, the Limmat river and the Swiss National Museum are within a short walk, and Bahnhofstrasse runs south from the station towards the lake. The hotel is an established city-centre property housed in a traditional building, offering a classic, business-friendly atmosphere rather than a trend-led design. Rooms are available as Deluxe Rooms, Junior Suites and Suites, with rates generally between CHF 400 and CHF 800 per night. Facilities include a restaurant and a bar, room service, a fitness center and free wifi. Breakfast is served on site and is a convenient start for guests with early departures. The service character is geared towards business travellers, conference visitors and tourists who plan day trips by train, and the concierge can advise on rail passes, excursion timetables and restaurant bookings. Families can be accommodated in the larger room categories and suites. Noise from the station area is a consideration for light sleepers, so guests may wish to ask for a room on an upper floor or at the quieter side of the building. For first-time visitors who want to see as much of Switzerland as possible without relying on a car, the location is hard to beat, since the Swiss Travel Pass and local ZVV tickets can be used from the door.
