At that moment, thousands of participants gathered in the square raise their red pañuelo neckerchiefs and tie them around their necks for the first time that year, marking the symbolic start of the celebrations. The standing terrace of La Mejicana is as close as any bar position gets to that balcony without entering the building itself, making it the single best chupinazo vantage point accessible without VIP arrangements.
