Cape Fisterra has been regarded since antiquity as the westernmost point of continental Europe and is the natural endpoint of the Camino Finisterre, the coastal extension of the Camino de Santiago that pilgrims walk after completing the main route at the cathedral. The hotel sits roughly 140 metres above the Atlantic, reached by a narrow paved road that climbs three kilometres from Fisterra village below, leaving the property in near-complete isolation above the sea.

The building retains its original stone signal-station structure and an iron observation tower.
