Hotel Monumento Monte Santa Tecla (Santa Trega) occupies the summit of Monte Santa Tecla, a 341-metre hill rising from the south bank of the Miño river at A Guarda (A Garda) in the southernmost tip of Galicia, directly opposite Portugal across the river mouth. The hotel is classified under Galicia's heritage monument hotel scheme and is managed by the Xunta de Galicia; it operates independently of the Spanish Paradores state network despite the similar monument designation.

The site is archaeologically significant: the slopes of the mountain contain one of Galicia's most important Iron Age castro settlements — a hillfort of circular stone houses dating to the last centuries BCE — partially excavated and open to public visiting. The hotel building at the summit is a mid-twentieth-century stone structure that has been updated while preserving its modest, austere character; its scale and isolated hilltop setting distinguish it sharply from the larger coastal or city hotels in the region.

Rooms are straightforward: comfortable doubles, twin rooms, and a small number of suites, all oriented toward the panoramic terrace. The views from the hotel are exceptional on clear days — the Atlantic ocean to the west, the broad Miño river mouth below, the Portuguese town of Caminha and its fortress directly across the water, and on the clearest days the Islas Cíes to the north. The restaurant serves Galician dishes suited to the mountain setting: freshwater lamprey (lamprea) from the Miño in season (January–April), local river fish, grilled Galician beef, and traditional stews. Service is unhurried and personal.
