The Caudalie Vinothérapie Spa at the Marqués de Riscal Hotel occupies an extraordinary position within Frank Gehry's titanium-ribboned architectural masterpiece in Laguardia, a medieval hilltop village at the heart of Rioja Alavesa wine country in the Basque province of Álava. The spa is a collaboration between the world-famous Caudalie brand—created by the family behind Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux—and one of Spain's most storied wineries, bringing the vinothérapie concept to the Basque Country's most celebrated luxury destination.

The treatment philosophy is rooted in the science of polyphenols, the antioxidant compounds found in grape seeds and skins. Caudalie's proprietary product line, developed in partnership with researchers at the University of Pharmacy in Bordeaux, uses resveratrol, grape-seed oil, and wine lees to deliver anti-ageing and skin-revitalising effects. Therapists are trained directly by Caudalie and certified in the brand's signature techniques.

Signature experiences include the Crushed Cabernet Scrub, in which guests are exfoliated using warm Cabernet Sauvignon grape-seed paste before a detoxifying algae mud wrap; the Barrel Bath, a private oak-barrel soak in warm water infused with essential oils and grape extract; and the Pulpe Vitaminée facial, a brightening treatment using white grape juice and vitamin C. The menu extends to deep-tissue and hot-stone massages, lymphatic drainage, and couples' Vinothérapie rituals.
