The western end of La Concha bay, a quieter beach popular with local families below Monte Igueldo.
Ondarreta is the western, more residential beach of San Sebastian, separated from La Concha by the Miramar palace hill. It is flatter and calmer than La Concha, popular with local families, with a wide strip of sand and views toward Monte Igueldo and the Peine del Viento sculpture. It lies at the end of the Paseo de la Concha promenade, about 40 minutes on foot from the old town. Dbus buses are a reasonable alternative. Facilities in season include showers and lifeguards, plus beach cafes on the promenade. At high tide the sand narrows, so check the tide table. The beach is a gentler choice than La Concha for families with young children and combines easily with the Miramar gardens, the Peine del Viento and the Igueldo funicular lower station nearby.
