San Sebastian (Donostia) travel guide - where to stay, what to do, and where to eat pintxos in San Sebastian, Gipuzkoa, Basque Country, Spain.

San Sebastian nights start with the pintxo crawl (poteo) in the Parte Vieja, where Calle 31 de Agosto, Calle Fermin Calbeton and the streets around Plaza de la Constitucion fill from about 19:00. Gros, across the Urumea river beside the Kursaal and Zurriola beach, has craft-beer and cocktail bars and a younger crowd. Clubs are few and small: Bataplan on La Concha promenade is the best known, Dabadaba and Le Bukowski in Egia host live music, and Altxerri adds jazz.

Bars open for the evening round at about 19:00, dinner starts around 21:00, and clubs open after midnight. The city tourism office states that bars in the Parte Vieja, Gros and Egia close at 03:00. Bataplan is listed as open Thursday to Saturday until about 07:00, which makes it the main after-hours option. The calendar adds Donostia Jazzaldia in July, Semana Grande (8 to 15 August 2026, with nightly fireworks over La Concha bay) and the Zinemaldia film festival in September.
