Sa Penya is the old fishermen's quarter of Ibiza Town (Eivissa) on the Spanish island of Ibiza, in the Balearic Islands. Its tightly packed white houses, with colourful doors and balconies, tumble down below the walls of Dalt Vila toward the water, while the yachts of the marina fill the foreground along the Passeig Marítim.

The classic frame is taken from the harbour promenade at blue hour, when the lit walls and cathedral of Dalt Vila reflect in the calm water of the marina and the quarter glows against a deep blue sky. A standard 24-70 mm zoom covers most compositions, and a tripod is needed for the reflections and long exposures after sunset. In the early morning the streets of Sa Penya are quiet and the light is soft, which suits detail shots of doorways, washing lines and stepped alleys. Sunset from the opposite side of the harbour gives warm light on the facades. The best seasons are April to June and September to October, when the air is clear and the promenade is less crowded than in July and August. In peak summer the waterfront restaurants and the evening paseo make tripod positions hard to hold, so arriving about an hour before blue hour to claim a spot along the railing works best. The quarter is a living residential area with a historic reputation for nightlife, so photographing residents or doorways calls for discretion and quiet behaviour, especially late at night. There is no entry fee for the waterfront or the streets. Tripods are generally fine on the promenade if they do not obstruct pedestrians. Drone flights near the marina and port are subject to Spanish aviation rules and port restrictions, so authorisation should be checked first. Cafes along the promenade offer restrooms and water.
