Hacienda Na Xamena stands 180 metres above the sea on Ibiza's remote and wild northwest coast, in the municipality of Sant Miquel de Balansat, and is one of the most spectacular hotel settings in the Balearic Islands. The property was originally built in the early 1970s and is one of the first purpose-designed luxury hotels on the island, conceived by architect José Antonio Coderch with an architecture that draws directly on the traditional Ibizan farmhouse — whitewashed cubic volumes, deep terraces, and arched openings that frame the sea panorama. The hotel is strictly adults-only and operates on a deliberately intimate scale, with 77 rooms and suites of varying categories, the finest of which are the cliffside suites and the Xamena Suite, which commands an unobstructed view of the sea from its private terrace. The most memorable feature of the hotel is its signature cascade of four seawater terraced pools, descending the cliff face in a series of connected basins that give the impression of stepping pools falling toward the sea. Watching the sunset from these pools is considered one of the quintessential Ibiza experiences. Dining options include Els Pescadors, the main restaurant, and an outdoor terrace restaurant overlooking the sea. The Nammu Spa is regarded as one of the finest on the island and offers an extensive menu of treatments rooted in Mediterranean traditions, alongside hydrotherapy facilities and thermal water experiences. The surrounding coastline — accessible by boat — includes dramatic sea caves and a secluded rocky cove. A courtesy boat service is available to guests. The Hacienda's remoteness means the atmosphere is substantially quieter than the island's southern resorts; reaching the property requires a car or a transfer arranged through the hotel.
