Bloubergstrand, usually called Big Bay, is a long, open beach on Beach Road in the northern coastal suburb of Bloubergstrand on Cape Town's West Coast, in South Africa's Western Cape. It is best known for the postcard view across Table Bay to Table Mountain, which is most striking in the late afternoon. The sand is pale and fairly coarse, and the Atlantic water is clear but cold, about 12-16 C year-round, so most visitors paddle or wade rather than swim.

The classic postcard view of Table Mountain across Table Bay, with a long, open beach and a kitesurfing scene. Lifeguards cover the main section in summer; Big Bay is the busiest stretch.

The west-facing shoreline is wide and exposed, with steady wind and surf that make it a leading kitesurfing and stand-up paddling spot. Lifeguards cover the main section at Big Bay in summer, and amenities include toilets and showers, ample parking, restaurants and cafes with sundowner decks overlooking the water. Strong rip currents occur, so swimming should be limited to lifeguard-patrolled areas, and the beach is not on the 2025/26 Blue Flag list. The atmosphere is active and outdoorsy, with kitesurfers, families, dog walkers and photographers drawn to the mountain view, and it is busiest at Big Bay on summer weekends and calmer towards the northern end. Access is by car, Uber or Bolt, around R250-R400 from the CBD, or by MyCiTi bus to Table View followed by a short taxi. Parking is easier here than on the Atlantic Seaboard, though bags left on the sand are a theft risk. The beach is a short drive from Melkbosstrand to the north and from the Table View residential area, and it works well as a late-afternoon stop for sunset photography.
